Discussion — grounded in the evidence

  • Laueasy is glycerol monolaurate (monolaurin), a lauric-acid monoglyceride with broad membrane-disrupting antimicrobial activity.
  • Independent broiler and piglet studies support its effects on gut barrier, morphology, immunity and microbiota, and one trial shows AGP-replacement potential.
  • The antibacterial and gut/immune claims are the best-evidenced; the in-vivo 'enveloped virus' claim is largely mechanistic and not demonstrated in these animal trials.
  • Growth benefits are context-dependent — clear in some broiler trials, absent in a healthy weaned-piglet trial.
  • Regulatory note: it sits under authorised mono-/di-glyceride emulsifiers, and antiviral disease claims for feed additives are sensitive.

Where studies disagree: The antibacterial and gut/immune effects are well supported in vivo, but the 'antiviral / enveloped virus' claim rests mainly on mechanism and in-vitro data rather than demonstrated in-animal antiviral protection; and at least one piglet study found no growth effect.

Gaps: No in-vivo antiviral efficacy trial captured. No GML meta-analysis captured. No product-specific patent captured.

Manufacturer’s stated mechanism (their words): Glycerol monolaurate (monolaurin) is a lauric-acid monoglyceride that disrupts the lipid membranes of susceptible bacteria and enveloped viruses, lowering gut pathogen and inflammatory pressure while supporting epithelial integrity, immunity and microbiota balance.
